BAC Travel Advantage

I was surprised to find a charge of $89.99 on my BofA credit card for a BAC TRAVADV. I called Bank of America to investigate the charge and they put me in contact with BAC Travel Advantage. BAC told me that as part of an offer sent to me by Bank of America, I received a check of $2.50 and that I cashed the check, automatically enrolling me in some travel discount program. I get such "junk mail" offers all the time and NEVER particpate in them. I was absolutely certain that I didn't cash such a check. BAC maintained that I did, but offered to cancel my account and upon my request, send me a copy of the canceled check. Out of curiosity, I did some research on the web and found several similar complaints about BAC. I called back Bank of America and demanded that they reverse the charge, which they did. This is clearly a marketing scam by BAC and Bank of America (BofA admitted that BAC was a BofA affiliate on the second call). BofA is charging their customers and putting the burden on the consumer to demand a correction of the situation. I shouldn't have had to contact BofA twice to resolve the situation, but I did. This is and unethical practice by any standard, and in fact, the whole scam seems illegal to me. Tracy Click this link to e-mail the above consumer: Email User Consumer
