Hi,

ICICI Bank (www.icicibank.com) advertises heavily on TV in India and in US through Indian channels about its online facility to remit money to India.Although it gives a better exchange rate then Citibank NRI,Times Of India Money to India ,the service reminds me of the pathetic Government services offerred in India. First of all its call centre in US (1 866 ICICI 4 U) takes more then 10 minutes before someone answers the call.The call centre staff puts up a good customer service face but your problem will seldom get solved.They will tell you to send an email to Email User for resolution.I have sent mail on

two occassions for my problems ,none of the mail have been answered so far.It has been more then a week since I sent my first mail and it is 4 days since the 2nd one. My trouble started when I tried logging onto money2india account using wrong id or password.It locked the ID and asked me to create a new ID .But when I called up helpdesk then they said taht I should write a mail to Email User with my registered email id and aks them to activate the account.I sent that but so far that mail has not been answered by them. After waiting for 2 days I went back to site and tried creating a new id with a new email id.It created the account but it did not allow me to register my checking account in US from where the money will originate for ACH transfer to India because it had already been registered with my old ID. I called up the help centre .They adviced me to send an email to Email User with my old email id and request them to deactivate the old account so that my US checking account can be registered with the new id.I sent that mail 4 days back(12/22/04) but so far I have not got even an acknowledgement let alone solution to my problem.I called up their help centre today and explained them the situation.They logged a call for my problem and forwarded the call to their concerned team and have asked me to wait for 2 days for resolution.I know that the problem will never be resolved by calling them up or sending mail to them.The service simply stinks. Also I tried doing a power transfer but then their website system is so bad that it would not complete the transaction and give me the receipt using which I can do the wire transfer. I think if ICICIBANK spends all that advertising money in providing the customer service and improving its online system then it will be better off. I think their bad service does not remain in the NRI service areas but the same bad service is there for its regular savings account Indian customers.This is the experience of my friend and me when my friend was adding some other freind as a payee so that he can transfer some money to his other friend account.The system would not add the payee.

 

It was purely a techincal problem in the system.My friend called up the help centre in India and explained the problem and requested them to add the payee.The call centre associate was telling him to wait for some more time and if the problem persists then call again.It was an urgent matter for us because the money was to be used for cancer treatment for my father.I begged with the call centre associate but it did not help. My message to ICICIBANK management is that please don't harass customers.They will not put up with you for long. Thanks and Regards.
