This is an update to the complaint titled Target Corporation and Memorex (but mostly Target) and their return policy. As Target has done nothing to rectify the situation of the numerous defective Memorex radios, I believe I have finally received my retribution. Though unintentional, I am still pleased with the outcome. I purchased a new toiled seat from target. I have been using it for w couple of weeks now. When I went to clean the bowl today, I discovered that the seat doesn’t stay up on its own. Today, I get to use my receipt that doesn’t expire for a couple more months to return a used toilet seat to Target. This is definitely a lesson that everything comes back full circle. Thank you for sharing in this grand day!

I have sent a request to Memorex on Dec. 2, 2004 and have received no response at all. Attached you will find my original complaint letter to the Better Business Bureau as your company has completely disappointed me and continues to do so… Synopsis to date… Original Memorex CD player purchased 08/01/04 Original Memorex CD player broke 11/03/04 Original Memorex CD player returned for exchange 11/12/04 Replacement Memorex CD player finally opened as too frustrated to even open 12/02/04 – doesn’t work either! Replacement Memorex CD player returned 12/18/04 in exchange for Audiovox CD player Opened Audiovox CD player 12/19/04 – this one is damaged!!! Has a huge hole in the side of it!!!! To return Audiovox CD player today as the sound system on this one stinks! I am being forced to get all of these defective/damaged products from your company – getting completely screwed over and over and over again – when all I would like is store credit to be able to purchase something other than a CD player from Target!!!! This corporation is so huge, I don’t believe that you cannot do anything to satisfy a customer who has obviously been screwed over and over again by your company! Seriously!!! Look at that history! Put yourself in my place! SERIOUSLY! Just give me store credit and let me return the stinking CD players!!!!! This has been going on for entirely too long and I can’t believe a company your size can’t do something about a stinking $34.99 CD player! Just let me return this thing for store credit! That’s all I’m asking for! I can’t stand this ridiculousness this asininity! You have to be able to do something. This will be the third time I’ll have to return a CD player to your store and your company’s response continues to be “Thanks for your comments, Julie. I hope we'll have another chance to give you the great guest service you've come to expect from Target.” Great guest service????? When have I gotten that??? This is a stinking $34.99 CD player!!!! I’m ready to just take this one back to the store and leave without anything and just let you keep the damned $34.99 since your company obviously needs it more than I do! I am so sick of this! I filed the following complaint with the Better Business Bureau regarding a faulty boom box purchased from Target. Target Corporation P.O. Box 9350 Minneapolis MN 55440 Complaint Description: I had purchased a Memorex cassette/CD radio on August 1, 2004. As it was purchased for my desk at work, it was not being abused and not even being used on a daily basis. The first week of November, I noticed that the CD I was listening to started skipping. I thought it was just the CD. So, the next day, I brought in another CD to listen to. It skipped, too. The third day, I tried one more CD. Finally, I tried cleaning the CD player. When I finally realized that my three-month-old radio was defective, I decided I would return it to the store to exchange for a different product; as I wouldn’t want to replace it with the same item just to have it break down in another three months. When I got home and pulled out all of my original packaging and receipt, I discovered that the receipt had expired October 30, 2004. Just a matter of days before the CD player started malfunctioning!!! Thinking that Target Corporation would stand behind the products that they sell, I went to return the radio. At that time, I was told that I could only return in exchange for another radio of equal or greater value since I wasn’t able to make it to make my return until November 11, 2004. I wasn’t even allowed store credit!! What the heck is that?!?!? I have to get another radio?!?!?!? I went back to find something to exchange and the shelves were practically bare except for radios with CD players without cassette decks or those for an additional $30 or more. I went back to the Customer Service Desk and took my defective radio home. When I went on line to target.com to check my options there… Hah! Starting at my $35 price, we have the following: CD/Cassette @ $35 – Available on WEB ONLY CD/Cassette @ $40 – Available on WEB ONLY Boom box @ $50 – DISNEY CD Boom box @ $50 – NO CASSETTE & WEB ONLY Boom box @ $50 – DISNEY Boom box @ $50 – NO CASSETTE & WEB ONLY CD Boom box @ $50 – NO CASSETTE & WEB ONLY This leaves me with my first available option with a cassette at a price of $60, which is an additional $25 from what I originally paid! I don’t want the same product, I don’t want to pay an additional $25, I don’t want to have to deal with the manufacturer for something that broke down a matter of days after the ninety-day time frame… Can your company go outside the guidelines? Seriously? This is a matter of days that we’re talking about and I have been back to the store twice, made several phone calls, and taken the time to write this letter. When I finally did have to make the even exchange, I was in tears I was so upset about the whole experience. I am not even going to open box for the radio, I am so upset about this whole experience that it will just tick me off to even look at it. I work one full time job and a part time job at a retail store. The retail store is just a couple of buildings down from the Target where this purchase/exchange took place. I used to refer many of my customers to Target when our store didn’t carry a product they were looking for. Target also used to be one of my favorite stores. I’m sure Target doesn’t give a crap about losing one piddly little customer over a $35 radio. However, I can honestly say I will not be referring any of my customers to Target anymore, either. Working two jobs, I don’t have many nights off and the last thing I really have time to be doing is running back and forth to Target stores, screwing around with this or to be dealing with a manufacturer on a product for something that Target should really honor for a couple of days after the receipt’s date! The retail store I work for takes returns for items that are almost a year old – and they don’t even have to be defective! I have lost all faith in this company!

Please check your state laws regarding implied warranties of merchantability. We have this in Massachusetts. If the item is defective, the store MUST either refund your money or exchange the item--YOUR choice--within a reasonable amount of time, which would not be subject to their return time limit. Good luck?

That is the most disgusting thing I have ever read..you returned a nasty used toilet seat to Target for someone else to buy and possibly get your nasty ass germs..you should be put under the jail for assault with a deadly weapon..no idea if you have any diseases, but I for one don't want to take any chances, if you can do something like that with a smug smile on your nasty face then you probably do..if they can jail someone for spitting on someone I'm sure they can jail a disgusting piece of garbage like you!!
