Bavaro Hair 701 North Milwaukee Avenue Vernon Hills, IL 60061 I never knew a website like this existed but I am glad I have found this site and hope this helps someone else. About 6 to 8 month ago I went to a salon in Vernon Hills, Il called Bavarro. It seemed like a nice place but once I sat down with my sylist, who was the owner.
Everything changed. Now my gut told me to leave but I didnt and I really wish I had. He was an older ,maybe Itilian man...very cocky. he began to seem upset that I did not want to to what he thought I should do with my hair. During the time he was doing my hair I could tell that he seemed upset by the fact that I did not want to take his opinion and that I continued to want what I wanted done when came in. I had a blonde and a red highlights put thru my top panel and he ended up leaving my blonde on so long that my hair just broke off when I got to the car afterwards.
When he began to rinse my hair he asked if I wanted conditioner. What stylist after puting a bleach blonde in askd if you want conditioner. Its a must or your hair will begin to break off and fry just like mine did. He told me if I wanted it I would have to pay him $15 extra. What a jerk! I was soooo mad I told him that when I got home I would just do it myself and that conditioner is a must when you are going blonde and it should be automatically included. Then he rinsed my hair, put the wrapped toel on my head and told me the hair dryers were up front if I wanted to dry my hair, and these were not sit down hair dryers....they were blow dryers just as we use at home. He didnt even comb it out and slightly style it. NOTHING!
He was the bigegst slimeball! would never recommend any one ever go to this salon unless they are prepared to be bullied by this cocky jerk who treats women as if they should listen or he will mess it up. It has taken me so long to get my hair healthier since then. He really damaged my hair and I was so upset that at that time I had no way to voice my opinion to anyone. I sure hope someone reads this and knows how honest I am being when I say DONT GO THERE!!!!! I've been going to this salon for over 10 years and have had both Gino and Maria do my hair with no problems. This is a high end salon and the staff are professionals who know their business. Gino is gracious and attentive--I have never found him to be cocky. I have to wonder what kind of attitude YOU came in with to elicit this kind of response. I continue to believe this is a 5 Star Salon. I dropped off my 17-year-old daughter to have a them trim off the dead ends of her long, straight hair. I had a 50% off coupon and was quoted a price of $50 for a cut, so that should have made it $25. However, when I picked her up an hour later, the desk clerk informed me that there was an additional charge for the conditioner they put in (we did NOT ask for this and they did NOT tell my daughter) AND an additional $10 to blow dry her long hair! Now, it is long, but not longer than any other teen girl's hair and definitely not out of the normal range - mid back. I honestly did not know what to say and wish I had stood up for myself and questioned the charge, as it brought everything back up to $50 for a TRIM! I may try to go back tomorrow to get a refund. I was appalled and will never go back to them again for any services. He is the best hair dresser I have ever had and has made my hair look fabulous. It just goes to show that there are two sides to every story and I think it is sad that a great guy and consumate professional like Gino Bavaro gets slammed on-line. Did you stop to think that maybe your hair was damaged already and he was trying to help you not damage it further? I don"t know, but that is a real possability-- he is a professional who knows his stuff!
