On-line camera store Dear Sir Or Madam: I recently tired to purchase a Nikon D70 from www.RoyalCamera.com at 342 Kings Highway, Brooklyn, NY 11223 I ordered a D70, with a Nikkor lens. What arrived was a D70 with a Sigma lens, which is about $200 less, but I was charged the same price. When I called to correct the order, Ronnie, first tried to convince me that the Sigma was better, and then offered to send the Nikkor lens for more. I then discovered that their business practice is to see their products without the manufacturer’s warrantee, and then add jack the price up for “Package” deals where you can only buy a complete kit with (warrantee, battery, etc,) at an inflated price. I had a sales person hang the phone up on me when I just tried to find out what a camera, warrantee, and battery would cost.

I now am returning the shipment, less their 5% restocking fee, which I am paying because I can’t get anyone there to honestly deal with me. I feel that they are an unethical and dishonest operation, because they switch items and pocket the cost, and then are evasive when you try to buy items in a way that don’t allow them to jack up their costs. As an example, the Nikkon MH-18 charger which sells everywhere for $40 is $199 from them. To get a camera with a warrantee, you also have to buy the charger and battery from them. This is an example of Bate and Switch tactics, and are never part of a honest operation. Sincerely, Stephen M. H Pasadena, ca 91104 Stephen M.
