First Premier Bank Credit card

First Premier Bank of Sioux Falls, SD I signed up for this card not know what all of the start-up costs involved would be. Once I received the card and found out I had close to $200 already charged to it in fees alone, I figured it was my fault for not reading all of the fine print. No biggie I paid it off and kept the card for a while. It has been almost a year since I have used this credit card, and have always paid the $6.00 a month they charge just to have the card with very few problems until recently. In the last six months I have not received a bill from the at least once every other month. I have called them and made sure they had the correct information (which they do) and still there is no explanation as to why some bills just never reach my doorstep. This is also the only company I have had problems with in not receiving monthly bills. I have finally had enough after being charged late charges, monthly fees, interest, and a $49 yearly fee to top it all off on a card that I no longer use and have not used in at least a year. When I called to cancel the card I found that I had $85 in charges on a card that I never use. Two $6 monthly charges (one of which was debited from my account on time none the less, but they still said I did not pay it), the annual membership fee, which you pay for in advance, for the $49, and a $25 late payment fee. Now the $6 for December I can agree with. Due to not receiving a bill I did miss the payment due on December 5th, but the other charges are ridiculous.

Even though I called to cancel the card they refused to remove the $49 yearly fee (again, you pay for this in advance of the year) which was just charged to my card this month. As far as the $25 late fee, I have had several conversations in the past with them about not receiving statements on certain months and have never been given a reason why even though they are "looking into it". The only thing they will tell me now is that it is not their responsibility if the monthly statements do not reach my home. Who's responsibility would it be then? It seems as though they have a habit of not sending out bills in order to be able to collect more revenue from late charges and additional finance charges. After reading some other complaints about this company from other people on this site as well as several others, it seems they have a habit of not entering payments as made on-time and statements sporadically not showing up. It really sounds like they are pulling the same stuff that Providian lost a class action law suit for not too long ago. What, as a consumer, are my options to have this resolved? I have already told them flat out that I was not going to pay their charges, and have closed the account. Jonathan R Jonathan R Click this link to e-mail the above consumer: Email User Consumer

The consumer has the responsibility to pay whether or not they receive a statement. Online access makes paper statements obsolete! I have two Premiere credits (Gold & Platimum) and I receive paper statements though I never open them instead monitoring the account online. There fees are excessive, but it is the customer responsibility. According to their payment info faqs, payment using your banking bill pay does not invoke any fees to Premiere and does not place a hold on the funds as it is guaranteed funds. Since, bill pay from the banks are mostly free these days, this saves $7 with each online payment. The downside, is you have to have the bank send the payment well in advance of your due date. The positive side, in addition to eliminating the $7 fee, is now you have a reliable, traceable third party sending payments to Premiere. If a dispute ever arises, you have proof of payment and is binding in litigation. If you are closing out your Premiere account, after performing searches and verifying, you should pay all your credit card balanes off before closing out your premiere credit to reduce the negative effects on your credit score after closing your account.

My husband has a First Premier card, and we also don't receive the monthly bills. It is our fault for this, how I'm not sure. We were also told it is our responsibility to go online and check the balance and due dates. Hmm, all of my other bills come in the mail. Also, we are now in the process of "trying" to close this account. I've contacted them through the "contact us" link they have, telephoning, and mail. We are keeping our fingers crossed that this will happen soon. We have a negative credit on this account (overpaid last balance due to NO BILL) and still having trouble closing the account! I wouldn't care how poor my credit score happens to be, NEVER USE THIS COMPANY.

Incident

These people do not have any idea what customer service means, they are rude, and just short of EVIL! I made an honest mistake when putting in my checking account number when making a payment, which was on time and over the minimum payment due.....I was ONE number off, this honest mistake ended up accrueing almost $100.00 in fees, fees which my bank didn't even charge me for, which was one of the reasons why I didn't even know there was a problem to begin with. No one bothered to contact me and because of this I was immediately sent to their "in-house" collections, all the while I am thinking everything is fine because I made my payment on time and for more than what was the required amount. Until one day I get a call at work from a collections representative telling me I now have to pay $100.00 MORE than what I had originally made the payment for because of a returned check??? I was shocked. These people refused to omit these charges, they could have as a one time courtesy, they would not have lost anything by showing their customer a little appreciation and empathy, instead they were rude and tried to act tough by talking loudly over me and refusing to let me speak to someone higher up to plead my case to, I was even hung up on.....AWFUL, just AWFUL!!! I have no recourse and that makes me sick, I have no choice but to pay these nazi's in order to protect my credit so that I can one day buy a house with my soon to be new husband, I feel violated!!!!

Damage Resulting

I am in the middle of trying to pay for a wedding and this has caused even more stress for me, I have done the best I could in repairing my damaged credit which was why I got myself this credit card to begin with..... I am sick over the whole thing an honest mistake just cost me over $100.00, beware people, dot your i's and cross your t's because they will get you!!! I understand why people go "postal" now, because when you feel like you have no other option but to give in to them you feel very angry and helpless!!!
