To: Express One Limited Parkway Columbus, OH 43230 main-614-415-4000 Customer Service 614-415-4633 This is to let all consumers be aware of Express return policy. This stores new policy of tracking customers returns is absolutely ridiculous. My brother recently purchased a shirt there and asked me to return it for him since I was at the mall. I had the original receipt, the credit card it was purchased with and they asked for MY identification.
When I asked them why I would need to show my ID, since the purchase was not mine, the salesperson simply stated that it was store policy. I HAVE TO SHOW IDENTIFICATION if I wanted to return the item, even if I did not purchase it. So I refused and my return was denied. First of all, with all the identity theft out there, what makes us feel safe about being tracked? Secondly, I feel my rights as a consumer were violated.
Their return policy is printed on their receipt, but it does not mention the fact that your identification or returns will be monitored. I understand their concerns about people who abuse the return policy, but what about the average consumer who spend their money at these stores?
Why not put up a sign that says, All Sales Final? (Consumers, please be aware that this company will be heading in this direction in the near future.) There are millions of retailers out there who still focus on Customer Satisfaction; unfortunately, this company isnt one of them. YOU ARE BEING WATCHED! Kim T. N

They didnt ask for a copy of your ID or your SSN, they just asked you to show them your id to protect the company against policy abuse reasons. especially now that the economy is down and people are jobless, they start thinking of ways to break system or loop holes to make money. who knows, that's exactly what you might be doing, using someone else' credit card. The main reason is to prevent people who return items constantly. It makes sense, since some people like to abuse clothing return policies, by wearing them and just returning them a week afterward. By 'tracking' your information, the company is able to see how often the individual is returning thier product. Thier goal is not to see how much personal information they can get, (might i add, we could really care less on the whereabouts of where you live and etc.) thier goal is to prevent people who abuse the system, thats all. And for the 'average consumers' - why should they be treated any different? Just because customer A spends $300 at the store and customer B only spends a mere $25 - isnt this country about equality? Everyone deserves to be treated fairly. But unfortunately, this policy may cause frustration with people who are just trying to do a simple favor for another, as in Kim's case. Again, might I say - its doesnt help the situation when you take out your anger at the employees - We are just trying to do our job! If you want your opinion heard, voice your resentment with corporate, since they are the root of these 'ridiculous' policies. Also venting on sites like this one is plus as well! The shirt didnt fit? Return it by mail. However, it is impossible to order from the internet and even from the phone. Am I the only one who thinks this is bogus? I work ALL the time and rarely have time to go shopping. When I'm in need of work clothes I want to be able to just order what I need. I called the Express store closest to my town and they said they couldn't order anything for me without my actual credit card in their hand. Wow. Who runs this company?! Its 2008. Get a clue.
