With reference to the case concerning application for Permanent Residency for my wife.

From Mr. Rahil Merchant (Email User) Canadian citizen since 1992.

I was married overseas, in Jan 2003, and we had a baby girl in Sept 2003.

Our daughter was born outside of Canada but got immediate Canadian citizenship.

My wife however had to travel to Canada from her home country on a visit visa.

We arrived here as a family on Jan 13 2004.

In April I contacted the above consultants for some advice as I was referred to them.

They made it sound like it was really difficult to obtain residency for my wife which made me take a decision to recruit their services. I agreed to utilise their services, thinking they would assist me in the application.

We agreed at $1800 for the complete process.

However prior to submitting my application with this Firm, I spent 2 months studying and completing the forms, also seeking advice with the Immigration office directly, on how to fill the application form correctly.

The Form was filled accurately and correctly. There was nothing left blank.

All the Govt fees were paid upfront.

The receipts were handed over to the Consultant along with copies of all supporting documents and photos.

The only thing the consultant did was to copy all my information on to a new form, stapled all my supporting documents, and mailed the file to Immigration directly.

Mailed NOT COURIERED!!!!!.

We paid $1800 for this?

When I asked the consultant some questions concerning the Medical Cert they did not give me the correct answer, instead made us go back to the doctor for a letter.

Should this not have been handled by them in the first place? Why did I pay them $1800?

When I asked the consultant for a regular updated progress report, they never returned my calls. Only when it was time to pay them did they call me.

I looked at our application online and found that on Nov 4 my wife was "approved in principle"

I had to call the consultant to tell her this news. She had no idea !

When I asked her about the procedure for obtaining the health card she said the Ministry may or may not issue the card.

So we proceeded to the Ministry only to be told that we need the Medical Certificate of Clearance issued by Citizenship and Immigration. We paid $1800 to be given the run around? What kind of consultants have been approved and registered with Citizenship and Immigration?

The consultant should know all these procedures instead of sending us on wild goose chases all over the place.

I recently called the consultant to find out what the procedure is AFTER paying the Govt fees and I was told to look this up on their website !

We have been told by Immigration that the Medical Clearance Cert.was mailed on Nov 15th. The consultant has called them only after we ran around to the Min of Health and told them that their information was WRONG and that we cannot get a Health Card for my wife WITHOUT the Medical Clearance Cert issued by the Immigration office.

The Immigration office says they mailed it to our address on Nov 15th. We have yet to receive it.

I looked at the address that Immigration have on file and our apartment # is missing.

The consultant did not put in the correct address !

So, the Medical Cert was probably returned to the Immigration office, undelivered..

My wife, who is entitled to her Health coverage, since 04.11.2004, is not covered to date 10.12.2004.

Should I sue this company, if something happens to my wife and she cannot be treated now because of this total SCREW UP (!!!!) by this consultant?

The consultant tells me on 8.12.2004, that they will have it mailed to me.

I think for the exorbitant charges they have collected, they should be Fedexing it to me !

I mean $1800 for copying all my information which took me 2 months to complete and mail ?

And no progress reports feedback, nothing after?

I mean this company is Registered with the Citizenship and Immigration Authorities . The CSIC # is 2855.

I want to put this on your website to warn all people NOT to use the services of these people. They are a collecting huge sums of money and doing nothing to assist applicants.

I could have got my wife's permanent residency on my own but was foolish enough to believe these people that it would impossible , even that my wife may have to return to her home country. with our infant who is a Canadian citizen!!

Basically they used some subtle scare tactics to get me to agree to their charges.

I still owe them $375 on 15.12 and I am NOT going to pay this last balance. They have not kept me regularly updated, all the information I have right now , has been through my own efforts.

I feel overcharged and scammed.

Consumers Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!

copy of this is being sent to Canadian Citizenship and Immigration.
