The label on the can does not reflect what procedure is needed to prevent a "wrinkling" of the finish happening between application of the 3 coats recommended on the label. Wrinkling occurs between the 1st and 2nd application of finish. The drying time is much longer in reality than the company representative states and what the label documents.

My contractor followed the label directions so intensively but this did not prevent the WRINKLING between coats. All the 2nd application WRINKLING had to removed again by sanding and reapplication of the 2nd coat with drying times of at least 22-30 hours.

Air conditioning was present to prevent high humidity for the label stated high humidity can give problems in drying. We have suffered $2000.00 in added costs because of the extra labor involved in having to refinish due to the WRINKLING of the finish.

Also, between the 2nd and 3 coat, WRINKKLING of the finish application occurred. The Varathane wood finish label does not document this WRINKLING factor that can occur which is costly to repair. When the 800 number was called about the WRINKLING, they gave a number of excuses.

The label should reflect the problem and state extensive drying times are needed to prevent the WRINKLING factor. Of course, this truth might not encourage consumers to buy the product.

Absolutely!

I, too, have had a 'wrinkling' problem with Varathane.

The problem could have been avoided not only if the issue was addressed on the label -- but also if the customer service representative would have given accurate information. I was told by a rep that a second coat could be applied six hours after the first and that sanding between the first and second coats was not necessary.

I am glad I only have one wooden floor!

I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience. I have been using Flecto for years and never had a problem. I might ask how thick your contractor was applying it, was the product new or old stock, did he or she actually touch it to test whether it was dry ? I'm sure there must be a reason shy you encourtered the problems that you did, but I find it hard to believe it is representative of the product or of the vast majority of users.

Your contractor was an idiot and a ripoff. If he had sanded the floors and cleaned them off first you would have had no "wrinkling"

I Have used this with no problems, over ther past 30 yrs. It is simple, self leveling and very forgiving. on floors and cabinets.

. I am just a homeowner and I have used it also on many other projects and right now am searching to find it to use on my brand new cedar decks for stain.

Its paints are also wonderful on furniture leaving no brush marks.
