Problem with Sony Canada Tech Support

I was extremely surprised to find that the quality of Sony Canada tech support and the treatment of the customer were so poor. First of all, for any published phone numbers of Sony Canada has automated speech recognition user interface that takes you nowhere and hangs up on you without transferring to an operator. This is so annoying and I had to call more than 10 times to finally press something that doesn't match the category but to get to an operator. Anyway my problem was that I bought Sony VAIO about 4 months ago and notice that the wireless mouse consumes too much batteries. I had to change batteries for every one and half months, and I don't use the computer that much. Maybe like one or two hours a day at most.

 

So I called tech support to find out how many hours the batteries should last, and if mine is extremely

below the average, I wanted my mouse to be exchanged. The first guy says that according to his manual, it only says "under normal usage, the batteries last 2-3 months". So I asked him what the normal usage means and I wanted to see some published documentation stating things like that or the

data sheet about it. He said that he could not find so that he transferred me to so called "top tech support guy".

 

This guy says the same thing but worse is that he has an attitude. I asked him if I can have the mouse

exchanged to see if the other mouse works any better since they don't have any published documentation about this and I feel that my mouse is consuming too much energy. He said I can't. Then I asked him where the nearest service center is. I live in Toronto, but he said there's no service center in Toronto and nearest is Whitby.

 

After I hang up the call, I checked the Sony web site and found that there is a service center in Toronto. So basically only thing that the tech support was saying to me is "no you can't get any

support", "we don't have any information on our product" and "get lost". I bought 2 year extended support for this computer and I'm getting this type of treatment and probably not worth it at all. I see so many complaints about Sony support at complaints.com and I am extremely dissapointed the way things are. I briefly worked for Sony Japan and they even send engineers to customer site to fix the problem when necessary, but Sony Canada is ruining all these efforts by hiring horrible support people.

I had horrible experience too.

When I ordered I chose 1 or 2 business day then after I noticed i received the fedex delivery date I was shocked that it was 5 business day.


I called their rude agent “Marlon” after explaining that I need to talk to his supervisor said “I have to talk to him!!!” like it is his dad’s company and I said no I need to talk to your supervisor and he hanged up on me!!!

I had to call gain shaking!!!! (I was never treated like that in USA). Then I talked to the supervisor. And it was the same story!!!!


This time I had him on recording (can you imagine you have to record them to prove what they say!!) after he not doing what he promised to do, he said I never said that !!!!!

I asked him if I can talk to his supervisor and re-review the recording of our yesterday’s conversation with him!!!

Guess what I was hanged up on !!!!!


APPARENTLY LIEING IS A WAY OF BUSINESS IN SONY CANADA.

I WILL REPORT THEM TO BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND TRY TO SEE IF I CAN GET ANYONE FORM SONY USA TO GET ON THEIR CASE AND FOLLOW UP FOR ME.


NEVER BUY SONY EVER!!!!!!!!

I have found the same thing with a complaint about the SONY READER. I believe that there is a flaw in the Reader, but SONY refuses to discuss it with me, or even accept the fact that the Sony Reader has a defect. We are now two with the same complaint, but SONY still ignores us. DON"T BUY THE SONY READER, there are problems with using it.
