Household Bank Credit Card Services In August of 2003 card was completely paid off. Balance was transferred because of the high interest rate. Along with totally paying off the card, I also wrote a note saying to close the account and I paid off the card. I did not receive any more bills and I thought that everything was taken care of. At the end of May 2004 I received a bill with a yearly fee for this card. On June 3, 2004 I called the Customer Service Department at Household Bank and talked to a representative by the name of Christine. She told me that she saw that the card was deactivated. I inquired about the fee. She said that she was going to cancel out the fee and sent letter showing a $0 balance. I then received a letter dated 6-4-04 saying that they received my recent request concerning my account with Household Bank and as of that day the account had a $0 balance and is currently closed.

I thought this matter was taken care of, but for some reason it was not. I received another bill from Household bank that was showing a previous balance along with a late charge that was assessed on 6-24-04. On July 1, 2004, I again called the Customer Service Dept and talked to a rep named Maria. I told her the situation and she apologized. She said that she would request that all charges and fees be removed from my account. I asked her if this was affecting my credit. She said that is hasn’t at this point.; The next day I received a letter from the Collection Department at Household Bank. It was dated 6-29-04 and it stated that my Account Balance was $88.97 and the minimum amount due was $30.00. On July 30, 2004 I received a call at my place of work by a collection representative. She was very rude to me. She was understanding and just kept insisting that I take care of this payment by doing a “check by phone.” She said that there was no way out of what I owe and should just pay it. I asked to speak with a supervisor and she said that it wouldn’t matter nobody there was going to waive those fees and she would not transfer me.

She said that my case was already submitted to the “Buyer’s Remorse” department and that they declined my request for the fees to be waived. I did not give her a payment over the phone. When I hung up with her I called the customer serviced department and talked to a rep named Vannthy. She apologized for the collection call. I asked her about the Buyer’s Remorse dept refusing my claim. She said that the Buyer’s Remorse Dept never should have been brought into my account and that was the totally wrong dept to be dealing with all of this. She said that she saw notes on all of my previous calls to the office. She didn’t understand why I was still receiving collection calls. She said that she would totally zero out the balance, and would send me (another) letter showing nothing due. She said that I should have nothing more to worry about. I asked about my credit. She said that it hasn’t been affected. I bit after this conversation took place I called back and got another rep. I requested a copy of this letter be faxed to me. He said that wasn’t really possible but that it would be sent in the mail shortly.

He said that he saw that Vannthy has zeroed out my balance. We will see.
