sony vaio superslim pro

i bought a vaio notebook that critically failed just at the end of the first month i bought it. i sent it to have it serviced and was told by one of the technicians that i had done something to cause the failure. since the computer was in the warranty period, and since i told him i know a little bit about computers (considering i had been using computers for years), the computer was serviced and returned to me at no cost to me. within three months i experienced the same exact failure and again could not recover the system using the recovery discs that were furnished with the computer. i bought an hp pavilion desktop and did nothing with the vaio. several months later i sent a letter to the seven (7) top heads of sony corp. explaining the accusation from the first technician, the problems i was having with the computer, and that i didn\'t want the computer returned to me. at this point i didn’t want to deal with the computer or the corporation, and i was prepared to eat the thousand plus dollars i had paid for a substandard product. i received a response from one of the top heads of the company and from kurt webster, someone\'s assistant or public relations manager or something! he explained that the computer had been repaired (it was just outside the warranty period) and that it was being sent back to me, again, and again at no cost to me. three weeks later, that\'s right, it failed again. exact error messages, exact failure and exact same problem trying to recover, down to the second. this time i called kurt webster and thanked him for \"nothing\" and told him i didn\'t want to hear from him. a friend took the computer and tried to fix it, but he had no luck, himself a computer programmer. he finally returned it to me at which point i realized i should have and be able to use a computer for which i have paid and have used only half of the two years i have owned. so, i called my buddy at sony corp., kurt webster.

this time, kurt webster repeated what i told him months ago on the phone, he actually quoted me, he \"thinks,\" and told me that because the computer is outside the warranty period, and because the computer is outside the ninety-day service warranty period, though he did admitted to getting my message within that period, there is nothing the company can do to help me. he also suggested that i didn\'t understand that the company has guidelines and regulations that prevent them from being able to do anything for me at this time. i told him i understand the company\'s position, that i understand it very well, that i understand they can do whatever they want and that they could certainly eat the cost of three hundred dollars and sixty cents for the repair of a computer that failed within the first month after i bought it.

he admitted this to be true but still stood firm in that he could not do anything for me, and that this is how sony stands behind it\'s products. i asked him if he was telling me that sony would repair the computer once every month because it was under warranty if i had a problem with it once every month, and i asked him if a person who purchased a computer to actually use should really accept having to send it for repairs once every month for the entire year that it is under warranty, or if a customer should expect a computer to fail three times in the first year. i did not let him answer those questions, i just politely thanked him again and hung up the phone. me
