Maytag Neptune Washing Machine
We had purchased a Maytag Neptune Washing Machine from Sears in 2000. We had just purchased a new home and with 3 kids under the age of 10 we needed a heavy duty washing machine. We purchased the Maytag unit Washer and Dryer because the sales person said you can put alot in the washing machine. So we bought it.
Here it is 4 years later - I had made a call to report a problem with my washing machine - it was jumping around on the floor and I had smelled a burning smell. We used a local service place that serviced Maytag. He said to do lighter load. In which I did and it is still moving around. He told me to freshen my washer with bleach. In which I did - My husband kept on saying my clothes smell like musty mildew socks.
I used the HE detergent and barely a 1/2 load and he was still complaining - I thought he was crazy- well my kids starting to tell me their clothes smell too. So I decided to check out the internet to see if there was any complains about musty mildew smell - and lo and behold I could not believe it. We paid $1000.00 for this washing machine and it is suppose to work and clean your clothes.
Yea right - I am really upset that we spend this much money on something that makes your clothes stink.

My motor control blew. I found out too late about the law suit so my husband and I paid for the new part and installed it ourselves. But, I can give you an easy and cheap fix for the mold and smelly clothes problem. Just using bleach on a regular bases kept my machine mold free until about a year ago when I started to use oxy instead. But, I found that just adding a cup of white vinegar to my wash ended the smell promptly and now my clothes are fresher and cleaner than ever before! It really works! Vinegar kills germs naturally. It is safe and so inexpensive. A gallon of vinegar is less than $2. Believe me, this works!!! I don't have to add it to every load to prevent the mold, but it also helps to break down soap residue and keeps my clothes soft and fresh!! Your clothes will not smell like vinegar at all! Thanks to the vingear, I am loving my Neptune again. From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Thursday, 17-Jan-08 13:04:23 CST Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
