Emerge Customer Service My son is temporary stationed overseas and has a Mastercard account with Emerge. Before his deployment, all of his personal accounts were set up for automatic payment except for Emerge which he had forgotten about.
In July I received a phone call from Emerge customer service about his minimum payment. I informed the customer service rep. that he was deployed. She informed me that I could send a copy of his orders to an Atlanta, Ga. address she gave me and his account would be put on "hold" until his return. I did exactly as the customer service rep explained and had not received anymore calls until this evening.
August 27,2004 , I received a phone call from customer service. I explained to the rep that I had sent a copy of his orders to the Atlanta address. She checked and confirmed that the orders had been received. I told her that my sons account was on "hold" until his return and she informed me that the "Sailor & Soldier Act" only reduced the interest rate but min. payment still had to be made.
To make a very long story short, I asked the rep not to call my home anymore because I work nights and sleep during the day. She informed me that I HAD to send a "cease and dismiss" request for the phone calls to stop. I asked her why I had to be inconvienced to keep someone from calling me since this is MY personal phone. She got smart with me and asked if it was an inconvience for me to send the copy of my sons orders. I WAS FUMING at this time. I informed her that what I did was MY business not hers. She then told me without the "cease and dismiss" letter that the calls would continue.
I have called the phone number on the bottom of the credit card statement and get nothing but options other than speaking to a customer service rep.. While looking for the phone number to this place, I see that the interest rate is 29.99% !!! What happened to the reduced rate which the rep claimed was 6% ????
The next phone call I receive from Emerge will be recorded with the reps name and will have my request for this company not to call me. After 3 phone calls from Emerge, the tape will be turned over to my attorney and a harrassment suit will begin !
