Brake Check

After Purchasing my car used in 2002, the brakes were making a bit of noise and I felt I should have someone look at them. 'Brake Check' had just opened up a couple of miles from my house so I stopped in. The location is basically Kuykendahl & Cypresswood in Spring Texas. They told me my rotors were warped and I needed new brakes, even though I clearly saw a lot of pad left. However I agreed thinking new brakes would last longer and I would have no more problems, (BIG MISTAKE) They completed my brakes within about 3 hours and I left.

The next morning the brakes were grinding and sounded bad so I went back.

They supposedly corrected the brakes (again I was there for several hours), however on the way home the very next evening they were grinding and scraping again and I went back. This time they made arrangements for me to bring the car in on my lunch hour and they had an employee take me back to work. At the end of my work day they had an employee pick me up and bring me back to brake check to pick up my car. The very next day I was going to Katy which is about 45 minutes to an hour away from Spring. As I reached the Mason road exit to get off of I-10 and applied the brakes, there was a horrid noise coming from the car and the front brake locked up, causing my back end to swerve into the next lane. I barely stopped and only due to the person in the other lane noticing my dilemma and moving over was a serious accident avoided, and I once again called the people at brake check. They came to where my car was located and determined that the caliper bolt had backed out on the highway causing the lock up as well as ruining my rotors. They took the car to another brake check, where they found a new caliper bolt and put on a new rotor. I was there the entire afternoon. They brakes however still squeaked, and I was worse off then when I purchased the car to begin with, however the car stopped correctly and at the time I was so tired of going back and forth to brake check that I was willing to accept that I had received a cheap brake job and they just were never going to get it right. This was stupidity on my part I should have demanded my money back then and took the car to a quality shop. Now it is two years later and the brakes are grinding, unsafe and, completely shot and so are the rotors. The car is once again virtually undriveable. Brake check now says sorry we screwed up, sorry your brakes are a piece of crap, but if you want us to fix them it will cost you. I told my husband to never take my car to this company again and I feel all consumers should know up that Brake Check is cheap crap. Spend the extra money to take your car to a quality shop, the trouble and risk of accident or death is not worth the few dollars you save by having this company put brakes on your car.

i took my car into brake check in humble on 59n and they screwed my royally. they told me that i need a new booster and master cylinder for my car and now the brakes lock up on my car after driving for about ten mins. brake check sucks!!

sorry to hear about her brakes. I own a 1 ton dually and I would not take my truck anywhere else. I've taken all my vehicles to the De Zavala store in San Antonio and I love that place. They fix it right the first time evry time. That store is awesome !

Dont take your car anywhere else, you will just pay more for the same service...Brake Check does a MUCH better quality tupe of work! Sorry you had a bad experience.....i have worked for the other guys and Brake Check, and Brake Check is by far better quality! I have been in the auto business 18 years now, and teh other guys get paid a commission, they do sloppy work and work as fast as they can to flag as many hours as they can! GO TO BRAKE CHECK!
