He told me their technical problems would be resolved on September 3 and told me I need to call back on that date to cancel my account.
Unfortunately, the account billing date is five days before this. I have apparently reached an impasse with AOL, and now I plan to contact my bank to inform them not to accept any further charges to my account from AOL.
Needless to say, I encourage everyone to cancel their AOL accounts - better, faster and cheaper internet access is readily available from providers who do not jerk their customers around or steal from them.
