Now that I'm moving, Cox says that deposit was forfeited due to my being late on my account. Since I would have paid a late fee for that, I feel that is fair enough already

complaint vs. Cox Communications

I wish to register a complaint I have against Cox Communications (cable, tv company) of New Orleans.

When I opened my account, I was required to put up a $115 security deposit. Now that I'm moving, Cox says that deposit was forfeited due to my being late on my account. Since I would have paid a late fee for that, I feel that is fair enough already.

Most importantly, I never signed ANYTHING that notified me that being late one time is cause for one's security deposit to be forfeited. When I think of the hundreds (if not thousands) of customers who are getting ripped off, it makes me want to file a class action lawsuit. This has GOT to be illegal. Your assistance is appreciated.
