Target Gift Card - purchased earrings using Target gift card - earranings broke - trouble getting money refunded

Target Gift Card

My mom purchased a Target gift ard for me for Christmas. I bought 3 items, one was a pair of earrings. The earrings were poor quality and broke. I returned them. The lady at the return desk told me she credited my old gift card. I went to the store Sunday, April 4th, the cashier told me the balance on my gift card was $4.67!!!! I found my receipt for the return of my earrings.

They told me I would have to pay cash. Why should I pay when they owe me.? Now, because of their mistake, I have to mail customer service the receipt.

I spent 2 days on the phone with customer service, an now have to run around copying receipts, spend my time and money to give them proof of their mistake!!!! I plan to itemize a bill to them for my services!!!

Anyone have similar situatins?
