My 2002 Chevy Avalanche has 18,000 miles and I recently hear a sound like a helicopter from under the truck. mostly at low speeds. The service department checked it out and replaced the rear differential and bearings because something was bent.

About 6 months ago, I noted that it burned oil on a 3,000 mile cross country trip. 4 quarts that is. The service dept told me that one quart per 1,000 miles meets GM specs. they replaced and oil valve and I have not noted the problem.
