Stay Away From Hotwire

Dear Everyone, Stay away from Hotwire if you are thinking about purchasing airline tickets. Last week I was looking for airline tickets to France and decided to try Hotwire. There were other web sites (I.e. Economytravel, CheapTickets etc) with good prices and only $30-40 higher days before. I found an acceptable price on Hotwire and tried buying my tickets only 30 minutes later, after making my initial search. Keep in mind, this is within Hotwire's celebrated 2 hour purchase window. Relying on Hotwire's 2 hour window, I checked out some other sites, but the travel arrangements Hotwire offered were more convenient. When I tried finalizing my purchase, after providing personal information, I suddenly realized the price had risen by $90. I had relied on Hotwire's 2 hour policy and now found myself compelled to complete the purchase. I immediately contacted Customer Sercice, but was met with utterly rude, outrageous remarks. Hotwire's Customer Service is no service at all, but a forum for being yelled at. The person was utmost defensive, preaching me that Hotwire does not at all guarantee anything. If that were true, then why having a 2 hour window to begin with? I also heard that such service is not regulated by law, that Hotwire is not at fault at all and so on. In the end, it was Hotwire's Customer Service hanging up the phone on me. Coincidentally, almost the exact same incidence happened to one of my friends 2 days later. Is that coincidence? As I see it, Hotiwire's Customer Service is a hoax and the site is loaded with misrepresentation. I don't think it would take much to uncover fraudulent business practices. We definitely need to take some form of action against such businesses. For now, the moral is: Do whatever you can to stay away from Hotwire's scrupulous practices. Don't get misled by statements such as: "This two-hour window is how we're able to guarantee the availability of our low-priced fares."
