Summerbay Resort Orlando Florida

Summerbay Resorts Orlando Florida I am completely disappointed with the way I felt pressured into purchasing a resort package from Summerbay Resorts in Orlando Florida. I was visiting a website when a spectacular pop-up ad appeared on the screen telling me I WON 1000.00 free shopping spree. For more information to: CALL 1-800-747-8979 EXT 718 Now! In calling the number, the girl was extremely enthusiastic about how "few people ever win this - I MUST contact a Director of Promotions Immediately! Then the entire call went so quickly with so much going on that I found myself feeling pressured into purchasing a vacation package totalling 298.00 US. The call went very quickly and was such a high pressure deal, that I am afraid I took "advantage" of the "deal" and found myself later feeling taken advantage of. The girl told me on the phone that this was non-refundable, and so I assumed I had been hooked. She did not mention anthing about a recission period (and I had no idea what that meant). It was my responsibility to look that up, I guess. I found out that by the time I had looked it up, the recission period was over. I have heard a lot of things about time-share purchases and sales over the years, some good and some bad, but had never before experienced the deplorable sales tactics used by these people. What a bad taste I have left in my mouth for almost each and every Summerbay Resort individual I have spoken on the phone with since. I was called over the last two week period about 98.00 booking fee I had left owing, and told I HAD to pay this fee, yet had not been able to book the vacation because of financial issues that have arisin in my personal life. When speaking to a Director about this, and telling him I felt scammed and used and am out money for a vacation I am unable to use, he hung up on me saying "clearly you are not interested in listening to what I can do for you". The only thing this 'Director' is able to do for me (I called back to speak with a manager) is ensure I am not called again about the 98.00US fee, but that because of my committment already made he can do no more. I understand that there are ways and means of selling things, but to feel the complete lack of respect or dignity offered someone who has already paid over 400.00 Canadian for an "item" I am unable to use - to be told and insisted upon that I am still owing another 98.00 US frustrates and angers me. I would like to make it clear, that there will never be a time when I will ever deal with time-share resorts of anykind. I have been left stripped of any respect for organisations that use unfair (even if legal) processes to hard-sell something and which leaves people feeling vulnerable, used and taken advantage of afterward. The very thought of having anything more to do with Summerbay Resort or any other time-share organisation leaves me sick to my stomach. Although Summerbay Resort insists that they have done everything within the legal limits of their rights, I am afraid I feel violated and taken advantage of. _________ Patti Dragland

Hi Patti

Just read your complaint on Summer Bay Resort - what happened in the end?

We have also got hooked in, and we have booked dates, but now very concerned, as we are New Zealand, and this trip will cost us heaps, as we need airfares also.

Look forward to your reply

Marilyn

I thank all of you for your comments. I recieved a phone call from Summerbay and while they were talking I googled them and found this site. I politely told them I found these complaints and felt I should say "no". They reduced their price to $198, for a package including Summerbay, Daytona Beach, the Bahamas, and Cancun. It sounded too good to be true, so I assumed it wasn't and said goodbye without giving them my credit card info. Again, THANKS!

i saw a web alert dat i won $3000 free trip to orlando florida, take a Bahamas cruise and hang at Daytona Beach. i called 5 diffrent tyms wit the lines goin dead(as i was callin all the way from Nigeria0. at last i got hookd wit a sales rep. by the name 'Vickie'. she congratulated me and she was pleasant and so courteous, explained to me how rare it is to win such award. she later linked me wit 'Lisa' who went tru all the blah blah for 20 mins (at my expence, call(mobile)outside nigeria quite expensive!)i tried to ask questns but cut me wit a rude remark, in her words 'how can you undrstnd wen you keep on talkin'. she concluded the whole trip wuld cost £3898 meaning i need to hav $898 balance in my credit acct. she asked for my mastercard nmbr which i gave (i bin trustin). she confirmed it (fortunately/unfortunately?)i had no money in it. her tone seemd different afterwards, suggesting i should credit my acct. within 3 months nd get bak 2 her.

i noticed several thins.

1. i was naive and gullible enoguh to have risked given out my mastercard nmbr.

2 the next day i didnt see any e mail alerts or official detailed info (even thgh dey assured me of an e mail)

3. why does someone have 2 pay for somethin which suppose to be free?.

4. shocked and surprised to see people have actually fallen victim, after commin across this site reading all the complaints similar to mine.

i wudd welcome comments on my e mail, now that i havent gone as far yet. i need advice from anyone out there on wot to do and what shud be done to stop this kind of scam occuring.

i wud also like 2 know if there is anyone who has actually benefitted from this and how it has wrked for him/her.

ali S.

me too won a vacation of 3000 USD when visiting a website 10 days ago .Curious i called (from Luxembourg, Europe) and found myself delivering my credit card number etc. I must admit i felt trapped afterwards, although thanks to my own stupidity!next day after reading their general information and regulations i learned i could cancel within 7 working days, which i did.before i called my credit card company and was informed i have not been debited yet, and that i could only oppose the payment after i was debited.I must say that the employees at Summer Bay have been very polite and helpful, proposed me another deal for Europe. I declined. I was told that it would take about 10 days to credit my account and that they would cancel everythig. IT took only 5 days, and my 850 USD have been credited again. In future I will never again succomb to this kind of temptation!!

This treatment/ripoff is not to blamed on the customer! Any company that INTENTIONALLY deceives, rushes thru, no straight answers, cant find your name or phone #, play on words, DOESNT DELIVER, and uses illegal tactics, shld not be in business! Not the customers fault (you are niave and wrong). In your view, customera shuldnt trust or buy anything-hence they get the blame. Not all co's are crooked and really want customers to be happy-playing by the rules and ethics. The shady co needs to be shut down.

SummerBay Sales told me 3x will stay at --- hotel/Napa-when I asked point blank. Recorded, I askd again "where will I stay" he brushed over it quick but answered my direct ques "you will review--hotel.(he knows what was meant )Dir played the recording-I insisted.

I pointed out what is deceptive-illegal-he just yelled, changed subjects.

The co promotes you can sell it! (illegal on ebay) File a complaint w/ FL Atty General !!

Summer Bay uses "con tactics" to the extreme! I knew nothing about cons till I unfortuneately met one who lied constantly(nothing added up)-rip offs via telemarketing scams (he is again in prison till 2019)I actually worked with the FBI. SummerBay uses the Con STYLE-wont hear complaints, changes subjects, hve to "help other people" (as if you are wasting his time).

BUT THEY HVE YOUR MONEY!

I paid $498 (too much faith in people still-not gd) cancelled wi/7 days. They only refunded $300! Still trying to get my money to no avail. PLEASE complain with the FL-Atty Gen (online), Consumer Affairs,FTC, BBB, etc!! Need to fight back. Use the resources we have to help This co needs to be shut down.

I agree with all of you, last year a won a package over the radio and I was able to use until now (school). I called them and the first time was ok, very nice. I had to pay $99 for reservations (what kind of gift is this? that you have to pay). Them I try to call them back because I had question I wanted them to answer, and guest what they never answer the phone, I went to the internet and I tried all the phones that appear on their web-site there were like 7 of them. Finally somebody answer but the sales rep could give any inf becuase she couldn't find anything in their system. She gave another phone number (#8) but again they never pick up the phone and I left several messages which theynever answer back. The week of 4TH of July I called back A LOT of times again until they answer and the sales left me on hold again and again and again. But finally one of them explained to me that they couldn't help me right and them becuase they were too busy and that they were helping the people that were going on vacation for the 4th of July weekend. I understood that but know nobody know anything. I don't even know what to do now I am scheduled to take my vacation on July 31, but I am not sure what is going to happen.

PLEASE. If someone out there can do something about it or at least is planning to do it let me now I will be more than willing to help with what I can to stop this. May be if this is on TV they will try not to rob people anymore.

I am in sympathy with you. Read my concerns about the same package. These people are hurting retired people and others. What can be done? When I tried to cancel, I was told I could not even though she could not find the recording telling me that I had thirty days (over the phone conversation).

I too am a victim of Summer Bay Resorts, Orlando and their other name, in Houston (the smart circle or the smart card). Over the phone I purchased a package with cruise, etc. for $300.00 and the required 90 minute spiel on Time Shares. I am book for the visit soon and it is with fear and trembling that I take this trip. Two days ago, at Sam's Club, by the Astrodome, in Houston, I thought that I donated to The American Breast Cancer Foundation and received a smart card package (paid $50.00) to Orlando 4 Days/3 Nights. I planned to take my Grandchildren there as soon as possible so I thought this was a wonderful present. I also paid another $50.00 (donation to breast cancer foundation-877-Key-2-Life) for a Spa Package at the Galleria in Houston for my daughter-in-law. So gullable am I. When I tried to schedule the smart card package, all went very well with Gerti in Orlando. Five minutes later she called me back to say that I could not visit Orlando within six months of my other visit. I was confused, how did a breast cancer donation affect a package that I paid for over the phone. THEY ARE ONE IN THE SAME COMPANY. I have been scammed again and it clearly states on my receipt for 49.99 (no change given for the $100.00) that 5% of the Retail priced on selected merchandise will help support AECR (whatever that is). I am 66 years old and should know better.

No I was not able to use the stupid package that summer bay resort sells me. This is because the place I wanted to stay is always unavailable and they try to put me to sh*tty place. The sales rep were rude, hung up on customer when you're trying to find out more. I didn't realized there were so many victims out there. There got to be something that can be done about this. This is real sad. I would like to refund my package but ofcourse they wouldn't let me. This sucks.

This a bad situation but in all reality you made the decision to click on the ad and further give them your credit card for a free $1000 shopping spree. The ad stated a shopping spree and you ended up booking a vacation?Consumer gullibility is the biggest factor in your loss, yes the practice of baiting by using pop up ad while surfing is low to say the least but in the end you are responsible for your own misery.

I was quite at home on my computer when the advert came suddenly through firefox: wonderful gift package of 3000 US dollars!!! at 449 dollars per person. I called Summerbay resorts as advised to understand.

But I was calling from France ( at my own expanse. I then went through 2 operators. No written address was given to get an official written contact with the management. And then, the big surprise: they asked me my credit card number !!! I refused. The operator began to insist with a fierce determination and uncommon pressure: why not, which are the reasons, everything is garanteed, and so on. I had to stop unpolitely the call I had made.

Sorry but I hate this pressure and I hope that the US administration will stop this behaviour

Such a pressure is killing the image of tourism in the US where I use to go at least once a year. The cost of holidays in euros is low:if some people behave like that without any state control I will spend my money elsewhere. Too much is too much !!
