ECS motherboard makers
The issue i have with them is the support for their motherboard BIOS updates, they support all microsoft operating system except Windows Me, they don't show any help for WinME only 98, XP and 95.
WindowsME came out before Windows XP yet they support XP and not WinME. The peoples at the other end of their email is of no help, all they do is try to lay blame on Microsoft, yet every other motherboard maker provides detailed information on how to flash their BIOS in WindowsME.
I sent them many emails, some included below.

Hello I need to know how i can update the BIOS for :
K7VTA3 v. 8C/6 K7S5A Si (sis 735)
The Operating System is Windows ME,
I would like to recieve the BIOS Updates for those motherboards, along with instructions on Flashing them to the latest.
They replied: Dear Sir/Madam: IMPORTANT NOTE: Please do not update the BIOS if your system is running fine. Please do not update the BIOS if the BIOS patch doesn't pertain to your current problem. Unsuccessful BIOS flash may cause the system fails to boot up. ECS(HQ) is not responsible for any BIOS flash failure. You can learn how to using AMI flash utility post at http://www.ecsusa.com/downloads/flashAMI.html, You can make bootable floppy disk when you have Win95, Win98, or XP only. You can download latest BIOS for K7S5A post at www.ecsusa.com or www.ecs.com.tw """""""" Please include all the previous correspondence or case number when replying """""""" Regards, Frys Support Team I replied:
As i noted more than once in the email i sent to you that my operating system is WINDOWS ME, i never said Windows 95 or 98 nor XP. My question still stands. They replied:
Dear Sir/Madam: I know you have ME operation system, You can make bootable floppy disk when you have Win95, Win98 and XP . You can't make bootable floppy disk by using ME, this OS limitation , You can contact Microsoft about how to make bootable floppy disk when you have ME. I replied: I know it is stated that you can't flash the bios when your operating system is Windows ME, that is the reason i wrote to to you all in the first place. I find it unreasonable that ECS bypassed Windows ME, and should include help for those who have Windows ME.... you support 95 - 98 - XP, why bypass ME? For your other information Abit Bios can be flashed under Windows ME, and so does Asus, i've done them before. The fault is not with Microsoft. You can make a bootable floppy under windows me, just the space that is left is too small to hold the bios file etc. They replied: Dear Sir/Madam: You can contact store for more detail help if you feel it is motherboard issued. I replied: On my ABIT board i flashed it using Win ME BSD, Also on my ASUS motherboard i flashed it under WINDOWS ME. All i am asking in as less words as possible for a SOLUTION from YOUR supported product TO PUT a link or something that people like me that has an OPERATING SYSTEM namely WINDOWS ME so we can FLASH YOUR motherboard, WITHOUT having to waste MONEY by calling MICROSOFT, when OTHER motherboard MAKERS make it possible to FLASH in ANY OS. (link us to a bootdisk, host a bootdisk or something, not because your boards are cheap means the support should be cheap!!!) IF YOU CAN"T HELP ME then PLEASE forward This and all other EMAILS from me to ANYONE that hold a higher POSITION as soon as possible. Marcus K
