Dell Computer
To Whom It May Concern, We have an issue with Dell Computer that we were hoping your reader's could help shed some light on. Here is our case: An order (#663289982) was placed with Dell Computer on 2/27/04 over the phone for a Hard Disk Drive. When the shipment arrived I noticed that there was a sticker on the outside of the box that said, "Refurbished" on it. I felt that it was misrepresented as no mention was made when the order was placed that I would be receiving a used drive. Repeated inquiries were made to no avail. I don't feel confident with a refurbished drive, and felt I paid for a new one. Dell seems unwilling to resolve this issue. The order was placed with a credit card, and we tried to have Bank One reverse the charge, however, they were unable to because the drive is still in my possession, the reason being is it's on our computer as a back-up drive and we can't jeopardize losing data. If a new drive is sent, I would be happy to swap it out, and pay for a new drive at that time. Are there any laws that govern computer equipment, stating that when an order is placed via the phone, or on-line...that mention should be made as to whether new or refurbished equipment is being bought? I've done a great deal of business with Dell over the years, and never before had any problems. Thanks in advance, Bob L Sunnyvale, CA 94089 Bob L
