Rowenta iron - top-of-the line Rowenta iron (a Laser) that I own exploded Rowenta iron - top-of-the line Rowenta iron (a Laser) that I own exploded
Sirs:
Recently, a top-of-the line Rowenta iron (a Laser) that I own "exploded" on my housekeeper, who was ironing at the time. I was in the other room, heard a loud bang, and our house was plunged into darkness, as the fuse had tripped. I rushed out to find my housekeeper holding a Rowenta iron with the rear case shattered, and a scorch mark along her wrist.
I sent the iron to the company here in the UK (SEB), who took three weeks to study it and have now informed me that, as the iron was three and a half years old, and the fault was admittedly in the cord, this was to them simply "acceptable wear and tear".
I'm sorry, but I don't find an "exploding" iron an "acceptable" level of wear and tear! I consider this iron to be extremely hazardous and think it should be subject to a product safety recall immediately. I'd like to know if anyone else has had this problem with a Rowenta iron.
Sincerely,
Mr R N

The cord came apart on both ends of the iron, the dial stripped, and blew a fuse in the process. The iron was only 1 1/2 years old and I might add it was my second Rowenta, the first one only lasted 2 months and quit working. Forget getting a replacement and switch brands. Good Luck.
