Dish Network Top 100
I just discovered this website yesterday and I started to do some research regarding how many other consumers who have had problems with Dish Network and found out I was not alone in my complaint. My complaint is just a touch different though.
I order Dish Network in Janary from a company called Dish1up because they were offering a promotion where I could get HBO and Cinemax and receive a $49.99 credit on my bill for the first four months. I was told by Dish1Up that they would charge my credit card $49.99 and it would be taken off my first months bill. I did agree to this and also signed a contract at installation saying I understood this.
Then I got me first month's bills. The credit card showed Dish1Up putting a charge on my account for $49.99 and then later removing the $49.99. Then there was an additional charge from Dish Network for another $49.99. First let me point out that I had never given Dish Network my credit card number, only Dish1Up.
Then I got my bill from Dish Network. On the bill there was a credit for $49.99 which would have cancelled out the credit card (as promised in the contract and over the phone) but there was another fee for $49.99 called a promotion fee. Now this is simple math. A charge on a credit card for $49.99 and a charge on a bill for $49.99, but only one credit to my account for $49.99. This gave me a charge of $49.99 total, which is not free as promised by all advertisements and contracts.
I first called Dish Network and spoke with a customer service representative and a superviser. Both of whom would not remove the charge but would also not tell why there was this charge. I was just supposed to accept it.
I then proceeded to call my credit card company and let them know I would not pay this charge of $49.99, which the credited back to my card. I figured then Dish Network and I would be even. There would be a charge of $49.99 on my bill and a credit which works out to be free as promised. Dish Network got notice of the charge back and immediately charged another $49.99 to my account.
I then emailed the company and asked what plan I had signed up for. Erika Rodriguez sent me an email back which also proves my case that there should not be a charge of $49.99 and that the service should work out to be free. Then I corresponded with her serveral times about the mysterious charge and even showed her the math I had done proving it was not free. Erika also would not reverse the charge.
I have saved all copie of my credit card bills, Dish Network bills, and my email correspondences. I have sent all of my information in to the Attorney General and I have also put a complaint in with the Better Business Bureau. I am still in waiting for a response.
I am just wonder what other channels I can take. I continue to pay for my service, minus the $49.99 I was unjustly charged until I can get it resolved. The three people I have spoken with at Dish Network refuse to even try and understand why I feel I was overcharged. Yet they also cannot prove I should have received this charge.
If anyone out there knows of anything else I can do please let me know. I am tired of the consumer having to pay charges not disclosed to them when agreeing toa service. If I had not paid attention to the charges, I would have continued to pay the fees. I wonder how many other consumers have not noticed the hidden fee. Thank you very much for reading about my experience.
