I would like to share a very bad experience I had with Uhaul 3 weeks back I had booked a UHaul truck over the phone, well in advance.

 

My reservation was confirmed, I was given a reservation number etc. I even got a confirmation call from the nearest pickup center and the date and time of pickup was fixed. On the day of pickup, when I went to

pickup the truck, I was flatly told that there are no trucks available.

 

When I called the 800 number, I was simply forwarded to the Texas center and from there they simply told me to talk to the person who had

confirmed to me over the phone, that the truck will be available that day and on that time - which happens to be the person (at my nearest pickup center) to whom I went to pickup the truck. That person told me

that Uhaul was supposed to send the truck but did not.

 

Basically everyone was blaming it on the other person. I was the only person who was affected by all this as I had to vacate my apartment by evening and here I was wasting time trying to talk with Uhaul and find at least

something, with no luck. If this is what one has to go through, after reserving and even geting a confirmation of that reservation, there is no point in wasting time with them. Ultimately I was told that there are no trucks available that day anywhere in the nearby vicinity till late in the evening ! How was I supposed to vacate my apartment ?

 

I wrote a complaint giving all the details of this incident through their website to their customer service people the very next day - but I have not even got an acknowledgement of my complaint till now. In case I had not not turned up after making a reservation, Uhaul would have chared me $50.00 as per their rule. Now shouldn't the same apply for the customer as well ?

 

I am totally disgusted with Uhaul and their behaviour. I will never try Uhaul nor would ever recommend it to anyone. Sirish P Sirish P
