Earthlink forced through a closed credit account after cancellation of their lagging service

 

I am writing this letter to inform Earthlink that I am disgusted from the type of deceitful business dealing I incurred.Six months ago my husband ordered Earthlink after reading at their website promises of excellent service.My husband called and ordered it by credit card.The service was ok for about two months then began lagging so severely it was no longer worth the aggravation to keep the service.I called Earthlink and reported the problem of a the severe lagging and attempted to cancel the service.

 

It was at that point I was informed of a 149.99 cancellation fee for ending service before the year was up.I was never once informed of a cancellation fee, nor did I verbally agree or sign a contract to obligate me to such terms.I then sent a registered letter to the manager of Earthlink to cancel my service and notify him that I would not pay a fee that I did not agree to and I should not pay because they broke their promise by providing me with lagging service.

 

They still continued to charge my credit card so I closed my credit account.The following month I received a letter from a manager at my closed credit account and found out they somehow forced through my closed account and was still taking out payments.This situation has left the manger at my closed credit baffled because he had no idea of how they where getting into a closed account.I am now at a point of pressing charges against Eathlink for illegally forcing funds out of a closed account. Consumers beware of this company.
