Best Buy, store policy printer return and false advertising

To whom it may concern: On 4/16/04 I purchased a HP Printer. I purchased this printer based on the sign at the printer location clearly stating "$299.99 receive a free $30 gift card". I was charged $299.99 on my credit card statement and I did receive the $30 gift card. I did buy a $20.99 printer cable for the printer I just purchased. On 4/22/04, I needed to return the unopened printer and unopened printer cable. I even had the gift card to give back. To my surprise and dismay, I was given a refund to my credit card of only $269.99 and handed a gift card to cover the $20.99 for the printer cable. I now have 2 gift cards totaling $30.00 and a credit on my charge account for $269.99. How is this fair? My point is that I did not purchase a gift card to be able to purchase a printer for $269.99. I thought I was purchasing a printer for $299.99 and getting a FREE gift card like the ad said! Why did Best Buy MISREPRESENT themselves in the sale of this printer? Is this your way of tricking people to buy gift cards? Is this some kid of stunt to increase your sales revenue?

I find it sneaky and deceitful. What else is Best Buy misrepresenting? Trust has definitely been lost. I am now stuck with a $30 gift card because gift cards are not returnable? Don't expect to see me in any of your stores. Regards, Ms. Kimberly H
