Dear Sir I purchased a Hotpoint Fridge/Freezer 30 months ago from a reliable source in Virginia. Within 2 months the fan was squealing and had to be replaced.This was done under the 1yr warrantee.Exactly 1yr later the fan started screaming again and the Freezer stopped working and the control board was replaced at a cost of $218.00.Three weeks later the refridgerator stopped working and the freezer was working so well everything in it stuck to our fingers.
The repair man said this was because the icemaker had a design flaw, was leaking and blocking the vents.Three weeks later the refridgerator part and the icemaker stopped working.$75.00 to replace the icemaker.One month later the refridgerator stopped again and this time the fan was burned out and needing two parts to fix and stop the excess moisture that forms in the freezer,tech. support told the repair man it was a design flaw.Customer Service told me the parts were $113 and $165 and I could have each for $90 or a credit for $90 towards a new GE appliance.
Having spent $1067.00 on this thing in 30 months I am not about to put any more money into it..This appliance has never worked correctly and to suggest that I should pay them so that they could correct their own mistakes beggars belief. I shall now be finding another fridge/Freezer but this time the prime concern will not be the price or how good it is supposed to be, but only that it does not have a G E label on it.
Needless to say I shall not buy another Hotpopint(GE) appliance of any type and would suggest that everyone else follows the same route.
