Consumer follow-up message - May 20, 2004 - From: //
Further to my message below, I am pleased to inform that after having brought the matter to the attention of CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, KL, Malaysia concerted effort is being made by the Bank to resolve this issue. I am particularly impressed with the Customer Care Consultants and Quality Control Manager in wanting to resolve this issue. At time of writing yet to receive final outcome. But I hope with the understanding and care shown by the Bank, it would be a positive outcome. Hope the Bank continue to keep up its good work for benefit of its customers.
All I can say at the moment.....a big thank you to Mr Shayne Nelson/CEO and his team.
Rgds..Sam

To whom it may concern:
I am a long standing customer with Standard Chartered Bank since the late 70s. I am now 53 years old. I believe the bank is not at all interested in wanting to resolve financial woes of its customers.
I have a housing loan of Rm115K and OD facility of Rm115K as well. Due to my severe financial difficulties at the moment I wanted to refinance my house for a net facility of Rm150K. This would at least enable me to meet my various financial obligations and other debts. I expect my financial situation to improve within the next 6 months.
I own a property with a market value of Rm800K plus pension/trust units assets of Rm600k plus. All these years I did not have any problems in servicing my debts. It is over the last 6 months I have been having some problems since I wanted to venture on my own. It is for these reasons that I wanted to refinance my house since my facility is with this bank.
I spoke to one of its officers two months ago who acknowledged that it would not be a problem to get my application approved in view of debts viz-a-viz asset backing. And now after two months of chasing and waiting I have been told that my application has been rejected.
They would rather see my property being auctioned off instead of finding some innovative ways and means to assist a desperate and long standing customer like me. I am even prepared to endorse my pension fund to provider of this facility. Two of my children are in the Universities...one doing accounting and another doing medicine.
Can some one help please.
Tks and brgds......Sam
