AT&T wireless billing problems!
For several months I noticed that my AT&T bills (sent via mail) were taking a month or longer to hit my checking account. After a few months of this, next thing I know, my cell phone was shut off. I called several times trying to tell the Cust. Serv. Reps that there is a problem with their receivables systems and they would just act like they didn't know what I was talking about. And of course, at this point now they want an early termination fee, or a reinstatement fee.
I finally called one day a couple weeks ago and reached a Rep that ADMITTED there was a problem. I told her my payments are taking a month or longer to.... and before I even finished she says "I know, your payments are taking a long time to go thru. I keep telling people it's taking very long, and we don't know what the problem is."
Coincidentally, my brother is in the very same boat! I talked to him recently and his service was turned off and he didn't even know there was a problem. Now his account has been turned over to collections. And last weekend I went to visit him, and he went out to get the mail and there was a payment (he was mailing in the whole ball of wax - early termination fee and all), but the MAIL WAS RETURNED! This was an AT&T payment coupon with the window envelope for sending payment! with their PO Box preprinted on the payment coupon!! It was stamped with "forwarding order expired".... helloooo????
I'm wondering if this is the very reason why payments in so. cal. are taking so long to go thru. Obviously, they had a "forwarding" address put on this PO Box, so payments were going to an L.A. PO Box and THEN being forwarded to another PO Box (in Illinois, I think). I'm thinking stupid AT&T doesn't know that they have an old freakin' address on their payment coupons! And now since the forwarding order has expired, all kinds of payments must be getting returned!
I'm so pissed about this. I don't feel I should have to pay an early termination fee OR a reinstatement fee! I wrote them a letter but I doubt it will do any good. I'm wondering if there are other people out there having the same problem? I don't know if I can post my email address here but I would love to hear from anyone who's also having this problem. Email me at Email User (yes, I have AT&T for my isp too and am very seriously thinking of changing)
Thanks for listening, and so glad I found this site!

I found out my bill was suddenly being sent to my daughter's email address and not to my address. Now they shut my phone on BUT i called and insisted i didn't request this and they'd better not charge me that reinstatement fee. I spoke to a William in customer service and he was nice enough, but still. My problem sounds so similar to yours. I'm afraid to keep going w/ AT&T....i might shop around elsewhere...
