National Consumer Consultants - attempt to get personal bank account routing and account number
Telemarketing Scam
On March 31, we received a call from a company identifying themselves as National Consumer Consultants. They were offering to put a stop to junk mail and help protect us against consumer fraud.
The telemarketer also promised to give us an Emergency Number and Security Code that we could then use in case of suspected fraud.
To get these two numbers, we were asked to give the caller the number on the bottom of our personal checks (the routing and account number of our personal bank account).
When we refused to do this, we were asked “how can I stop your junk mail if you won’t give me the check number in order to verify who you are.” We again refused and they hung up. James R. F
