Liesure Victoriana, Currys, UK - late delivery of gas cooker Liesure Victoriana, Currys, UK - late delivery of gas cooker
From: 30th November 2003
My parents (aged 82 and 78yrs) went into Currys store with my brother John who used his credit card to pay for the above product - a gas cooker. Marilyn (from the depot) assured them that she had set aside one of only two cookers for them and it would be delivered on the 8th December. It did not turn up, no one contacted them and the had to phone the depot the next day to find out what had happened and were told a load of flannel by someone else.
They were then assured that it would be fitted on Wednesday the 17th. More flannel on the 18th, including a tale that it could not be fitted on the lorry, another delivery date on the 19th. No delivery and more flannel and lastly delivery was promised (again) on the afternoon of the 20th December.
In total four delivery dates, no apologies and no cooker. They were never contacted to say the deliveries were not taking place. They waited in all day on two occasions and a half a day on one date. So on the morning of the 20th I phoned the depot and spoke to Moira to ascertain if the cooker was on the truck. Moira assured me that the cooker was on the truck and would be fitted that afternoon before 4.30pm. My brother, Robert, actually went to the store when this did not happen. He was told it would be delivered and fitted (old one removed) before 8.30pm.
The next thing that happen had my jaw drop and of course all my family totally disgusted with the treatment of our parents. Unbelievably when the store was contacted next day by my Mum, she was told that there were no such cookers in stock - how can this be??? The manager Colin (didnt get his second name) very fairly said that this had been a disgraceful way to treat them and he offered a refund.
Next day John went to the store and in order to get his refund he had to convince the woman on duty that this story was true and that dispite her offer he did not wish to wait until the New Year and pay an extra From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Sunday, 28-Dec-03 00:00:00 CST Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This Comment On ThisCurrys delivery men are really very irresponsible with their service and costumer satisfaction. They left my fridge freezer on passage of my home!!Now its so hard to move it to the kitchen.I'll do compromise with price but never buy with currys next time really mate.
