AOL - agreed to not cancel subscription immediately in exchange for 2 months free servce - then charged anyway

From:

I recently received an offer from AOL to COME BACK FOR 2 MONTHS FREE, I accepted. When I noticed a charge from AOL for $23.90, I phoned.

Much to my surprise I was told that the offer is only for 2 months free if you set up a new account. I told the customer service representative that before I started using the free offer I called AOL to make sure that I could use my old account and was told that that would be okay.

So why was I billed? The representative then explained about old and new accounts and I said to him that the literature that accompanied the offer didn't explain that nor did the customer service representative that I spoke with before I used the service.

He said how sorry he was and that I would be reimbursed the $23.90 but I wasn't getting the 2 months free. Now I feel cheated and duped into renewing my subscription.

Please forward this email to AOL customer service so that noone else will be duped into accepting an empty offer. I was told that the AOL address is aol.com/complaints

Thank You,

Cheryl A Goodwyn

my complaint is i just noticed on my bank statement that i was still being debited $30.80 a month for the past 8 months. This account was suppost to have been cancelled back then. First of all i have not even used a computer since July. I just got a new one and i called up aol, they told me they could credit me for 3 months only that this is FCC LAW! I wish i knew how to get in touch with them. What about the other 5 months???? This was not my fault and i do not have money to just give away! Iwill never use AOL again and will never recommend them to anyone not even a stray dog!
