We have a Jenn-Air Downdraft Electric Cooktop, Model CVEX4100B, Serial Number 14191798AR, bought earlier this year. My concern is the fundamental cooking performance, in that a large fraction of the cooktop is not usable for its intended purpose.
The middle one third of the grill surface does not have any red heating elements, so it is not able to cook properly in the middle, or evenly throughout the surface of the grill. The distance between the heated portions of the serpentine heating elements is two inches, while there are seven-inch distances between the heated portions of the elements in the middle of the cooktop.
Jenn-Air sent Maytag service people to the house and they agree that it is not possible to cook on large parts of the cooktop. The Jenn-Air customer service people say thats the way it is and they have received no other complaints. Jenn-Air refuses to rectify the problem. Does anyone else have the same problem?
