AOL DSL Broadband - cancelled free trial after two days - still charged $ 31.50 to AOL account AOL DSL Broadband - cancelled free trial after two days - still charged $ 31.50 to AOL account
From:
AOL DSL Broadband will not remove a $31.60 charge to my AOL account. That charge is what is going to cause AOL to lose me as a customer. I tried AOL DSL as an introductory trial offer for 30 days. I only used it for 2 days then I returned it to DSL with a cover letter explaining that my computer did not have enough memory for it. I subsequently cancelled several times.
DSL Department is alledging that I did not cancell in the time alloted. Here is my major complaint. When I cancelled, DSL did not send me confirmation of cancellation right away. I called them several times requesting that they send me confirmation of cancellation.
They waited until after the 30 days expired to send me confirmation-so that they could charge me the $31.60. Also, when I called in to cancell right after sending the modem back to them, I had to put my telephone # prior to a rep getting on the telephone. That rep would place me on hold and never come back to the phone (so that I could cancell) THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. When I called AOL several times to cancell, I was told that I had to speak to the broadband dept. They would place me on hold so long, I could take a shower, get dressed, brush my teeth, etc. and they would still not come to the telephone.
I need help because this is going to destroy my relationship with AOL, I have had continued billing problems with them, even taking money unauthorized out of my checking account. The broadband department tried to keep me from cancelling.
I did everything possible within reason to get broadband to respond to my requests for cancellation. They are going to disconnect my service in several days for failure to pay the $31.to. They are trying to get something out of me for no service rendered.
