RE: FedEx - microwave damaged during shipment - claim denied due to being over 15 days after shipping On November 10, 2000, I placed an order with FedEx from Eagle River AK, to Seattle WA, account number 259169453, pickup number ANCA 136. I was asked which methid of shipping by Debbie, and specified second day. I was asked which day I wanted pickup and told her Monday, November 13. I specified value of 500 dollars. I was in Seattle. The person whose house was the pickup point called me in puzzlement that that someone had picked up a single box on November 11. It arrive Nov.11, having been shipped priority overnight. The rest of the boxes were picked up and delivered later, caousing a extra charge for two separate pickups, as well as overnight shipping. They also delivered my microwave in an inoperable, no-power-on condition, with a corner crushed. Though some of the charges were reversed after a drawn out, lengthy series of calls and letters, they never did respond properly to the calls and letters regarding the broken microwave. I had people at at FedEx argue with me, tell me that they would not have picked it up the 11th if someone had not requested it, which is false to fact. They told me the "shipper" was responsible for setting the priority overnight, and did not respond to my questions as to why I as the orderer was asked to specify which shipping I wanted. On December 19, "Mr. May" faxed me a claim sheet for the microwave damage (claim # 1219017598) On April 12, still fighting this, I made another call to FedEx and "Anthony" gave me another claim number of #0412023633, and said they would call. No one did. On May 18, "Maria" at Fed Ex told me both microwave claims were denied because "it was over 15 days after shipping, so they cannot honor the claim". My letter to them, of which I still have a copy, was on November 21. They never resonded to the mention of the broken microwave made in the letter. I got little but trouble, foot dragging, denial, arguments, and nonresponse from FedEx. I bought a new microwave, without any reparations from them. Valerie Park
