Lop.com - unknowingly installed Lop.com toolbar - continually rerouted to their site, exposed to their pop up banners

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on December 23, 2002:

Hello,

I have had the LOP.COM toolbar enforced on me. I never downloaded the software, I never asked for it to be installed.

Now I am continually rerouted to their site and exposed to their pop up banners. I have written to the company on several occasions explaining that I want this annoying software removed. The uninstall software that they told me to download from their site does not remove the toolbar.

Third party software i.e. ad-ware, has also not been able to uninstall this awful toolbar.

This software is more or less un-removeable, I could of course format my harddisk and begin again.

Can something be done against this company.
