RE: Bassett / Restonic

In January of 2000, my husband and I spent weeks evaluating various choices to replace our 20 year old king size set, and finally decided on a $1200 model labeled Bassett at Richwell Furniture in Memphis, Tn. Within about 3 months impressions had formed on each side of the bed.

After much discussion with their managers that mattress was replaced with a firmer model. Within 6 months there were impressions again, and once again it was replaced. The manager stated that they had had trouble with the Bassett, and were now carrying Restonic.

This time we went for a less expensive model which was very firm, with no refund of the difference offered. Now we have impressions on that one that never come out in spite of flipping regularly and providing extra slat support. I don't want another mattress from these people, nor do I want a store credit, but that's all they offer. I am convinced that the mattresses they sell are inferior and that I'll never be able to rely on a good night's sleep from them.

I have also been told by a competing firm that Bassett and Restonic are made by the same company, just labeled differently. What does it take to find a reputable mattress?
