RE: Huffman Koos Furniture, Livingston, NJ - two loveseats delivered with damaged legs / feet

My complaint involves Huffman Koos Furniture Store in Livingston N.J. I purchased two Loveseats from the store September, 2001. I had new carpet installed in my home on December l, 2001 the two loveseats were delivered on December 4, 2001.

We inspected them when they were delivered and they appeared fine (I did not turn them upside down). We noticed a huge pull in the carpet and discovered the button on the leg of the loveseat missing and a large nail in its place. The nail hooked itself onto the NEW Berber carpet and begain to unravel it.

After inspecting the other legs we found three damaged. We went to the store on December 6, 2001 and spoke to the assistant manager, we explained the entire story to him and he referred us to the customer service who referred us to in home damage who referred us to a service manager who referred us back to the store, to the store manager.

The store manager was very sympathetic and sent our complaint on to the appropriate person. 1 month and 27 phone calls later I HAVE HEARD FROM NO ONE.

I have a damaged carpet and two damaged loveseats. Huffman Koos is defintely responsible for the carpet as well as the loveseats. I am planning to contact the Better Business Bureau and already have contacted small claims court. I would like some suggestions or some help.

Thank you, Annette Hastie
