RE: Starband Satelite TV, Bonners Berry, Idaho - ordered from Meadow Creek Computer Works I bought a Starband system from a local company in Bonners Ferry Idaho. I ordered a TV and computer satellite system. It was not 19.95 with free installation like the add said. The claim of free equipment was a wrong too. It cost $1100.00 to get the system in.

The installer who also owns the store, Meadow Creek Computer Works, was unwilling to bring the wires under my house. (because it was not comfortable) So, I had to crawl 30 feet through the mud under my house and hand it to him.

This is what they mean by free installation. You do the hard part, we run the wires and turn the screws. It has been about two months now and the thing has worked about two weeks of that. First they picked the wrong location for TV reception, so I had to dig another pole and concrete in another post. Since then we had reception for about a week then she switchbox went out.

After a week and me raising hell on his answering machine he came and replaced the switchbox. It worked for a few days and them broke again. Now I have called and, a week later, he hasn't even returned my call and I have been without TV for another week.

But I am still paying for the service I'm not getting. The program for Starband is not compatible to windows XP but I was told it could work. It sort of works - off and on. Sometimes you don't get a sign in screen.

Sometimes the computer just stops. Often, you can't sign in to networks. We got this because my partner needed a reliable service in a rural are to teach college classes online. She has been harassed by her college because she can't send text in the right format and it gets all jumbled up.

She may lose her job. Bottom line: Don't use Starband and don't buy Starband if you want good faith dealing, good reliable equipment and reliable customer service. It sucks and you can't find anyone to complain to so you are stuck with the incompetent dealer and you can't do a damn thing about it.
