RE: Panasonic CD Player

 

 

I sent the attached e-mail to Panasonic concerning my malfunctioning CD player.

 

I included a case number given to me by their telephone customer service. I have sent two additional e-mails and all I have gotten is a message telling me they received them.

 

Meanwhile, I am stuck with a non-working CD player.

purchased a CX-DP88U from Circuit City on May 28, 2000. Shortly after purchase, the unit would beep and indicate a CD error but continued to play.

 

It then stopped working and gave a "Check Magazine" error. I reset the unit and it played again. In mid September, it gave the "Check Magazine" error again but would not reset this time.

 

I called Panasonic and was directed to S&E TV in Fort Walton Beach, FL.

 

They said I have to remove the radio and wiring harness from the car or they could not check the unit. The car is a brand new VW Jetta and the radio and wiring harness are fine.

 

The technician said he was unable to power the unit without the radio and wiring harness. I find this hard to believe.

 

I was directed to take the unit back to Circuit City, but it is outside the 30 day return window and I did not buy an extended warranty.

 

At this point I would like a refund for this unit.

 

Customer Support (Melanie and Kelley) told me that Panasonic does not refund dissatisfied customers with products the company is unable to repair. I also find this hard to believe.

 

I would appreciate a refund of the $199.99 purchase price and I will gladly pay for the shipping and send the unit back to you.
