At 2pm, On June 13th, I placed an order for delivery to my girlfriend who was not feeling well. I placed an online order with 1800flowers.com, paid the $60 with my credit card and received a confirmation letter stating the flowers would be delivered that afternoon. Here's a clip from the confirmation letter: "Thank you for shopping with 1-800-FLOWERS.COM. The gift you selected, Dozen Gerbera Daisies In Vase, will be delivered to XXXXX on 06/13/00.". At 7pm, the flowers still had not been delivered. I called the customer service number and spoke with a man named Darren. He informed me, my 2pm order was past the 1pm cut-off for same-day delivery. I asked him where this was printed on the web site, to which he admitted not being familiar with the site. I then asked to be connected with a supervisor, and was put in contact with a man named Tony. With respect to the web site, Tony was just as uninformed and uneducated as Darren. Astonished, I asked why I was not sent an e-mail or given a phone call to notifiy me of this situation. Tony agreed this should have been done, and suggested I call back in the morning to speak with someone who could help me. In their defense, I did go back to the web site, and saw there was a SMALL line in the corner of the page stating the 1pm cut-off. My main problem, however, is I received the confirmation letter stating the delivery would be made on the same day. I would have made other arrangements if I had know the flowers would not have arrived to my girlfriend until the next day. After sending and receiving a number of customer service messages, I decided to have the company deliver the flowers on the 14th. I recieved a delivery confirmation letter and assumed the flowers had arrived. My girlfriend called me and told me someone from a flower delivery service left her a message that he was unable to find her apartment. She lives in a large, corporate-owned complex and I did not understand why the driver did not attempt to visit the clearly marked apartment office and speak with the manager or a member of the office staff. I decided to call and finally cancel the order. I asked why I had received a delivery confirmation, when the flowers never made it to their final destination. Of course, no real explanation was given to me. The woman I spoke with cancelled my order, and I vowed never to use the service again. Two days later, I noticed my debit card was charged for the delivery. I called the company and asked why this was done. The woman gave me a hard time and did not want to refund my money. I told her the flowers had never been delivered, though she didn't believe me. I was put on hold for 10 minutes while she called the florist to make sure they did not make the delivery. She decided to refund my money, but said it would take 7-10 working days (of course) but never apologized for the failed delivery, unauthorized charge to my credit card, and general inconvience. Please, please, please...never use this service!!!
