RE: The Sale of a Home Loan from a local bank to Countrywide Home Loans Dear Sirs: I have contacted Countrywide home Loans myself without ever receiving a response. I e-mailed Countrywide Home Loans on May 6, 2000 and they said they would respond in 10 days, yet I have not received any correspondence. I purchased a home loan from Columbia River Bank in Madras, almost two years ago, Aug 1998, with monthly payments of $554.54/mo. The purchase price of the house was $105,000. I paid $25,000 down, with a balance of $85,000 to be borrowed. The Columbia River Bank said I would not have to purchase PMI insurance, if I paid 25% down. But, the very next month, the Columbia River Bank Mortgage sold my loan to Countywide Home Loans, and they immediately attached a PMI cost of $49/ month, changing my monthly payment to $614. I have paid the additional amount over the past months, and feel they are charging me an unnecessary fee, that is not a cost I should incur. I have never missed a payment. It is a home for my parents, and we never borrowed money to build the house we live in, we paid cash. This is my only monthly bill. I believe this should not be considered an ethical practice. I cannot believe a large company is allowed to do this to an individual, in addition of never responding. I had contacted them by phone to voice my complaint, and they sent a letter saying I had to wait two years to change anything and pay for additional fees to change anything. I would appreciate any information necessary inorder to come to a solution in this matter. I need to know what departments of the government I need to contact to help me in this matter.
