My senior year in high school all I wanted was a Camaro. I had one spotted out on the lot of Pioneer Chevrolet in Marietta, OH. My mother went shopping with me one day, and I must admit the service was very nice. I was told I could get a Camaro on lease for 329 a month. Great, I could afford that. I worked with a salesman by the name of Andy. I thought he was very nice. I turned in my credit application, but nobody thought I would have a problem with that. After several weeks of the process, and selecting my custom Camaro, I was told my car would be in Friday. I of course told everyone at school how I would get my camaro on Friday. Thursday night about 6 pm Andy called my mother to tell me the credit application didn't go through, because I have no credit. Shouldn't that decision have been made weeks ago, but I conveniently found out the day before my car was due to arrive. He never implied for me to even inquire about a co-signer. So my mother decided to co-sign. They ran the credit through it was denied.... mainly becuase our fault because I didn't have my father cosign also and it looked like their debt was in her name only. Once again, we put it through and were denied. My parents are extremely well off and couldn't believe it but we were only accepted for a loan of 15,500. So I was stuck I had already sold my car and I had a weekend to get one. So I started to look into trucks my salesman informed me that a Chevy Extreme was coming in and that only 6,000 or so were even being made. I inspected it and it did look good, so we processed the loan. Here is the kicker, I bought a chevy s-10 Extreme for 15,500 and my payments at 15.99% which was the best they could do (gag) cost me 330 a month the exact same as my camaro. So I bought the truck intending to trade it in in a year when I got out of the Army. A year later I go to my same salesman, Andy, and I started the loan procedure and he said we should wait until my parents could cosign.... over the last three months I received multiple credit inquiries which costs my costly credit points that I did not authorize eventough I did sign the credit application. So I went to Tom Pedan another car dealer and they could finance me for 33,000 for a Trans-Am. Once again the truck began to haunt me because the truck I bought for 15,500 was there for a cool 11,500. Four thousand dollars difference, I understand that car salesmen lie and that's their job, but to do that to a dreaming 18 year old who all I wanted was to drive a sports car to prom. I believe I was delibrately set up for since I was called the night before my car was to be shipped to my small town. I don't believe they ever intended to make the costly transportation of a 22,000 dollar vehicle. Secondly, my Extreme of 6,000 models, I see one on every street corner now. (I live in a town of 20,000) To make a long story short I could not get the Trans-Am because the turn around was humongous to trade in the truck. So, what did I do in turn, bought a brand new cavalier z24, and kept both! And not from Pioneer Chevrolet, and not from Andy (who I do know his last name but will not post.)
