On Sunday, January 7, 2001, I shopped at The Wiz electronics store in Lawrence New Jersey.

I shopped in the music department for about twenty minutes.

I got the items I wanted, and proceeded to the registers.

I was the second person in line, however, I had to wait a total of twenty minutes in line. While on the line in the music department, the cashier had to call a manager for over ride authorization.

This began my wait. The manager, while turning the key and punching his code, informed the cashier that he and another associate were about to go outside to have a cigarette.

They cashier proclaimed "Damn, I want to go!" The associate informed her to finish the line and then join them outside.

The manager agreed. She continued to ring the sale, but encountered another over ride problem, but it took longer to get help this time since one of the managers was outside smoking.

The cashier informed me to go downstairs to the service desk register. I did that, and was the third person in line there. This took a few additional minutes to finally have my transaction rung up.

Although, while I was waiting, the cashier from upstairs passed by the service desk to go outside for her cigarette. When I finally finished, I walked outside to see the manager, the two previously mentioned associates and two other all standing outside having a nice chat and smoking.

I then approached the manager, and the group of associates, and asked for his name and the district manager's phone number. He asked why, so I told him.

He then told me to go inside to the security desk to get that information. I did, and had to go wait in line once more. This time again as the third person in line.

When I reached the counter I pointed to the manager, who was at this time walking in the door, and told the security clerk that he told me to get the information from him.

The clerk had no idea, what the phone number was, so he called the manager over. The manager then gave me a customer service number that he already knew, because he told me the number without reading it.

I then had to ask for his name again.

Mohammed, the manager, obviously knew the information I wanted, or the information that he chose to give me, when I initially told him of the problem.

However, he chose to send me back in to wait in another line without an appology.

I was nothing but polite to this man, who was responsible for wasting part of my day off. I called the customer service hotline, and then received an apology.

It was too little too late, and I will, in the future, choose to purchase my music, video cameras, movies and audio equipment elsewhere.
