Automotive Dealers, Toyota - Thousand Oaks Toyota dealership would not fix nail in tire
toyota dealer refuses to service tire problems - Thousand Oaks Toyota Toyota Dealers From: Tracy Iwata Email User Date: Tuesday, January 16, 2001 11:40 AM
According to the service manager at the Thousand Oaks Toyota dealership, they will not service anything regarding a tire problem and all Toyota dealers would also be like this.
I was not told this prior to maintenance nor was I even aware of this policy. They should have a huge sign stating this.
I had paid for my 45000 mile service and the driver pulled out my car and I saw a nail in the front left tire. This was easy to see, since I was standing nearby and saw it immediately.
If the mechanic that serviced my car (which involved rotating the tires) did not see it, the nail must have been picked up along the path they drive the car from their parking area to the service area.
I pointed it out to the driver and the service advisor and requested they remove it and if it was leaking to patch the tire...I didn't want to drive off in a car I considered unsafe.
Common sense! I was told by the advisor AND the service manager that they have nothing to do patching such a problem and refused to even touch it. If there was a problem with a tire I had to go to the tire manufacturer!
But the problem was a nail getting stuck in it while on their premises so that made no sense to me.
They told me to go drive down the street to Winston Tires - with a nail in the tire - and have them look into it instead. In my mind, the Toyota service dept. would rather have an unhappy customer drive in an unsafe car than fix it on the premises.
I don't think this reflects well on Toyota the Company when their dealer conducts "service" this way.
