Car Rental - Dollar Auto Rental, Sacramento, California trouble using service
Dollar Auto Rental Sacramento, California Dollar From: Ron Wells Email User Date: Tuesday, February 27, 2001 11:27 AM _____________________ I checked the web for car companies in Sacramento, California. My wife's mother had just died, and she need a car to go visit her family. Dollar had a cupon on the internet for a one class upgrade for a dollar, plus their rates were the lowest. This sounded good. I called Dollar's 1-800 number and reserved a mid sized car. Dollar told me it would be a V-6 Chevy Malibu, but the Sacramento agency would not honor the upgrade. I rented the car for a week. They said the agency was off airport and there would be a 10 minute wait for the shuttle bus. My wife got on the bus to where she meets the Dollar shuttle. She calls and has to wait at an unprotected bus stop for 34 minutes in the wind and elements. The bus driver tells her that Dollar never tells their customers that the Dollar agent is all the way down town and nowhere near the aiport. My wife finally gets picked up and taken down town. She is told that there are no Malibu available and is given a 4 cylinder Daewoo Leganza and told this was a mid sized car (which seems awfully small to me). She rented the car on Monday and takes it back on Sunday morning. She is told that she didn't keep the car an entire week and that she will be charge the daily rate instead of the weekly rate, which is more. I called Dollar's complaint line, and they told me since she returned it in the morning instead of the afternoon they had to charge me the higher daily rate. I tried to save a few dollars, and it cost me more. I will stick with Thrifty in the future. I have always had good luck with them.
