RE: Soyo K7VIA motherboard - AMD 950 mhz processor
I purchased a Soyo K7VIA motherboard and an AMD 950mhz processor. The Soyo manual states that the motherboard will support up to a 1+ gig processor and three dimm memory modules, single or double sided, and any combination up to 1.5 gigs.
The motherboard, according to Soyos helpdesk, will only support up to a 900mhz processor. They said if you use a faster processor you can only use one memory module. They even denied that the manual stated different even though I was reading to them off their Web site as I talked to them.
After an hour long distance phone call, they suggested I return the motherboard and they would send me another, that may still have the same problem. I'm trying to put (1)128 meg dimm and (2)64 meg dimms on the motherboard. Their manual says this is OK.
The system locks up and will not start. Soyo is aware of this problem yet still miss advertises the product. Do you have any advise on this matter?
