at fault customer
No response from Hertz re: at fault customer Hertz From: Debbie Freeman Email User Date: Sunday, February 11, 2001 09:31 AM _____________________ On 8/30/00 we were involved in a wreck in Panama City, FL with a Hertz Customer (from another country) when an unauthorized driver of the Hertz vehicle failed to stop at a flashing red light/stop sign & crossed into our path on a highway. We tried for 3 days to unsuccessfully file with Hertz. As we headed into the Labor Day weekend (with no vehicle) we were forced to file with our company, AllState, because Hertz could still not locate the file nor had the driver even reported the accident (car was towed away - wasn't even drivable) and we needed a vehicle to drive since ours was nearly totalled. I provided Hertz all of the information for the case (including FHP contact) since they still had not heard from their customer 3 days after the accident. Even told the Hertz adjuster what tow lot had their car. The good news is that AllState did a GREAT job of handling our claim. Unfortunately, since we had to file through them we had to pay our deductible and await reimbursement after AllState subgorated against Hertz. It's now been 4 months since our nearly totaled truck was repaired and the bills finalized - - but despite repeated attempts by AllState to subrogate against Hertz - they have not paid AllState - so we have not been reimbursed for our deductible. Am hopeful Hertz management will read this and resolve this issue since we're not getting anywhere with their claims department. I was in an accident about 2 years ago with a Hertz rental car and it was the other persons fault. I never got a rental car...ever! Hertz lead me here and there and here and there. I felt like I should be working there because I was doing all the work. Its like if its their fault they don't want to help you at all. If its for their benefit then they will help you with open arms. I was highly disappointed with their help.
